أنشطة منوعة وألعاب في اليوم العالمي لغسل الأيدي

أقامت منظمات “أوكسفام” و”إنقاذ الطفل” و”آكتد” و”المنظمة اليابانية للاستجابة للطوارئ JEN” يوماً احتفالياً اليوم الخميس في مخيم الزعتري بمناسبة “اليوم العالمي لغسل الأيدي” والذي يصادف تاريخه اليوم. وحضر فريق “صوت” اليوم الاحتفالي الذي امتلأ بالأنشطة والفعاليات التي أقيمت من قِبَل المنظمات المشاركة لجذب الأطفال للحفاظ على النظافة ولتوعيتهم بأهميتها؛ فبدأ اليوم بموكب سار في كل مقاطعةٍ من المخيم لحشد الأطفال وضمهم للاحتفال، ثم توالت بعد ذلك الفعاليات التي تنوعت بين مسرحياتٍ قام بأدائها الأطفال أنفسهم، وبين الرسم على الوجوه، وشد الحبل، وغسل الأيدي، واللعب بالبالونات، وغير ذلك من الأنشطة.

 وعبر الأطفال المشاركون عن حماستهم للفعاليات طوال الوقت؛ فكانوا يتسابقون للرسم على وجوههم، ويتابعون المسرحيات بحماسة، ويرددون الرسائل الرئيسية التي تشجع على الحفاظ على النظافة وغسل اليدين، ويغنون معاً الأغاني التي يحفظونها وغيرها مما حفظوها من موظفي المنظمات العاملة في المخيم من خلال النشاطات والألعاب التي يقومون بها معاً يومياً، بعضها من الأغاني التي تحمل الرسالة التي من أجلها وجد “اليوم العالمي لغسيل الأيدي” والبعض الآخر من أغاني الأطفال المعروفة التي يعرفها معظم الأطفال في المنطقة.

Activities and Games on Global Hand Washing Day

Oxfam, Save the Children, ACTED, and JEN held a full day of activities to celebrate Global Hand Washing Day on Thursday in Zaatari Camp. The Voice team attended the activities set-up by the organizations to raise children’s awareness about hygiene and its importance. The events started with a parade that covered every sector of the camp to mobilize the children and include them in the activities. After that the day included plays performed by the children, face painting, tug of war, hand washing, playing with balloons and other games.

The children expressed their excitement at joining the activities all the time; they raced to get their faces painted, watched the plays attentively, chanted key messages that encourage good hygiene, and sang together a collection of songs they already knew and others they learnt from aid workers in the camp who are there daily. The songs carried the messages of Global Hand Washing Day.

Interactive Workshop Teaching Children about Health and Hygiene

The Voice Team accompanied Oxfam’s host community team on Wednesday to a workshop it held at Zaha Cultural Center in Amman. The workshop was organized for Syrian children living in informal settlements in different areas of Amman and Balqa, where the aim was to teach children about self hygiene and what they can do in their current environment to stay healthy. In-turn, the children take back these steps that they have learnt and teach the other children in their community.

The trainings that were delivered to the children by public health officer, Madlein Abu Amrieh, and her colleague Abdullah Saraqbeh, took the form of interactive games in order to get the children’s attention, deliver the message in a simple way, and encourage them to be conscious about their health and hygiene. Some of the games involved role play where the children would demonstrate how  to wash their hands before eating, and this also gives them a chance to practice before going back to their communities and showing other children what skills and information they have learnt.

The workshop also ended with suggestions for future activities; the most important of which is a cleanup campaign that the children will undertake in their communities. They also expressed enthusiasm to be a part of the activities on Global Handwashing Day which takes place on Oct. 14^th every year.

ورشة عمل تفاعلية تعلم الأطفال الاهتمام بالنظافة والصحة

رافق فريق “صوت” أمس الأربعاء فريق المجتمع المضيف من منظمة أوكسفام البريطانية إلى ورشة عملٍ أقامتها المنظمة في مركز زها الثقافي في العاصمة عمّان لأطفال من اللاجئين السوريين المقيمين في مساكن عشوائية في مناطق مختلفةٍ من محافظتي العاصمة والبلقاء، حيث أقيمت هذه الورشة بهدف تعليم الأطفال الممارسات الصحية السليمة الواجب عليهم تطبيقها ضمن البيئة التي يقيمون فيها حالياً للحفاظ على نظافتهم الشخصية ونظافة بيئتهم والاهتمام بصحتهم، ليقوم الأطفال بدورهم بنقل التدريب إلى أقرانهم بأسلوب الند للند.

 وكانت التدريبات التي أعطتها مسؤولة الصحة العامة في المجتمع المضيف “مادلين أبو عامرية” بمساعدة “عبد الله سراقبة” ضمن ورشة العمل تتمثل في مجملها بألعاب تنشيطيةٍ تفاعليةٍ لجذب الأطفال وسهولة إيصال المعلومة لهم ودفعهم للاهتمام بكل ما يتعلق بالصحة والنظافة، وقام الأطفال بتطبيق بعض التمارين بشكلٍ عمليٍ خلال الورشة؛ مثل تمرين غسل الأيدي بالشكل الصحيح قبل تناولهم للطعام خلال الاستراحة، إضافةً لكون الورشة فرصةً للأطفال للتدرب على تعليم زملائهم خلال الورشة لما اكتسبوه من معلوماتٍ ومهاراتٍ خلال اليوم، وذلك قبل أن ينتقلوا لتطبيق التمرين على أرض الواقع في مجتمعهم.

 وخرجت ورشة العمل باقتراحاتٍ لخطة عمل ليتم تطبيقها في الوقت القريب؛ أهمها حملة تنظيفٍ يقوم بها الأطفال لمنطقة سكنهم، وأبدوا كذلك حماسهم للمشاركة في فعاليات “اليوم العالمي لغسل الأيدي” والذي يصادف الرابع عشر من تشرين الأول في كل عام.

Oxfam’s Host Community Team Works to Improve Living Conditions for Syrians and Jordanians who are Most in Need

Oxfam’s host community team has been working in different areas in Jordan since May where many Syrian Refugees are residing; particularly in Salt, Baq’aa Camp, and the areas of Safout and Ein Al Basha that are in the Balqa’ governorate. In addition to that, they have been working in informal settlements in east and south Amman, and will also begin working in different areas in the Zarqa’ governorate. Assistance delivered to Syrians and Jordanians in each location differs depending on the targeted area; this includes distribution of hygiene kits and cash assistance. Moreover, the team carries out monitoring and evaluation of the activities as well as delivers awareness raising sessions to beneficiaries to get their thoughts and opinions about the provided services and how to improve them.

A House in a Basement

I heard people talk about the tragedy that Mohammad the Syrian was living, but I never imagined it would be that bad. When you go into his house, you have to go down a few steps; he lives with his family in a basement underground. They don’t get any sunshine, and the smell of mold and humidity is unbearable. Moreover, the house is so warm that they cannot sleep, and in the winter it floods. The drains are always clogged, rats come out of them and roam the house. One even bit his young daughter and they had to rush her to the hospital. Mohammad and his family can’t move; rents are too expensive and his low salary prevent them from going anywhere else.

بيت في قبو

سمعت الناس تتحدث عن المأساة التي يعيشها محمد السوري، لكن لم أكن أتوقع أن تكون إلى هذا الحد. فعندما تدخل إلى بيته عليك بالنزول عدة درجات؛ أي يسكن هو و عائلته في قبو تحت الأرض. بالإضافة إلى أنه لا تدخله الشمس، رائحة العفن و الرطوبة تقطع الأنفاس. كما أن البيت شديد الحرارة لدرجة أنهم لا يستطيعون النوم، و في فصل الشتاء فهو يطوف و يغرق. المصارف الصحية دائماً مسدودة و تخرج منها الجرذان و تتجول في المنزل، حتى أنها قامت بعض ابنته الرضيعة مما اضطرهم إلى أن يسرعوا للمركز الصحي و تلقيحها. لا يستطيع محمد و عائلته تغيير المنزل، فغلاء الأسعار و راتبه الضئيل لا يمكنانه من إيجاد مأوى آخر

Text Messages

The doorbell rang and I answered it to find a young woman carrying some papers. She introduced herself and informed me that she works in a mobile communications company, and she went on to ask me if I have any comments about the service messages that I receive on my mobile phone. I laughed and I told her, “I was just thinking about these messages; I keep getting texts saying ‘Find out how many traffic violations you have to not be surprised later’, ‘Would you like to know how much your car is worth in the market?’, ‘Last chance to pay your property tax’, or ‘Prices are continuing to rise’. It’s as if we get these messages to remind us that we don’t have a car or a house anymore, or to remind us that prices are going up, as if we didn’t know that already. In addition to that we get text messages reminding us of water conservation, and with regards to water I don’t know where to start. Do I start by telling you that water hasn’t reached my house in a month except through water trucks? Or that we use the water left from washing dishes to flush the toilet, and the water left from washing vegetables and ablutions to water the plants and clean the house? I don’t know where to start..” After that the woman quickly apologized while realizing, “You’re Syrian”. She respectfully said goodbye and wished us a safe return to our country.

رسائل قصيرة

رن جرس الباب، ففتحته لأجد فتاةً تحمل أوراقاً، اقتربت مني وهي تعرّف بنفسها على أنها من إحدى شركات الاتصالات الخلوية وتسألني إذا ما كان لدي أي تعليقٍ على الرسائل القصيرة التي تصلنا عبر الهاتف، فضحكت قائلةً لها: “منذ لحظاتٍ كنت أفكر بهذا الموضوع؛ فتصلني رسائل عديدةٌ تقول لي مثلاً: “اعرف مخالفاتك الآن حتى لا تتفاجأ عند الترخيص”، أو: “حابب تعرف شو بتسوى سيارتك في السوق؟”، أو “آخر أسبوعٍ لتسديد ضريبة الأبنية والمسقفات”، أو “الأسعار تستمر بالارتفاع”… وكأن هذه الرسائل تصلنا لتذكرنا بأنه لم يعد لدينا سيارةٌ ولا بيت، ثم تكمل ذلك بتذكيرنا بارتفاع الأسعار وكأننا لا نعلم بذلك، إضافةً لرسائل تصلنا تذكرنا بنصائح لترشيد استهلاك المياه، وهنا لا أدري من أين أبدأ؛ أأبدأ بإخباركم بأن الماء لم يصل إلى بيتي منذ شهرٍ إلا عن طريق سيارات نقل الماء؟ أم بأننا نستخدم مياه غسيل الأواني للحمامات، ومياه غسيل الخضروات ومياه الوضوء لسقاية الحديقة وتنظيف المنزل؟ لا أدري من أين أبدأ…”، عندها اعتذرت مني الفتاة بخجلٍ قائلةً بإدراك: “أنتم سوريون”، فحيتنا باحترام ودعت لنا بالعودة إلى بلادنا قريباً…
