Thirteen year-old Bilal, his family’s sole bread winner, returned home exhausted. He had to start working because his father is now disabled and someone has to provide for the family. Bilal asked his mother to prepare him some dinner and went to wash his face of the hard day’s sweat, instead of washing his face after a day of playing with his friends. He sat down with his family, smiling and telling them about his day so that they would not sense his fatigue. He went on asking about groceries and if they need anything that he can buy. Bilal is not alone, for many children had to leave their schooling and childhood behind to find themselves responsible for entire families. Bilal has lost his childhood, but will it ever be recovered?
