CandleLight Vigil in Mafraq

“The first step in the evolution of ethics is a sense of solidarity with other human beings.” ~ Albert Schweitzer  ARDD-Legal Aid in collaboration with Oxfam will be hosting a candlelight vigil in Mafraq City on Thursday, March 14, 2013. ARDD-Legal Aid is the first Arab rights-based organization that is dedicated to fighting injustice through the promotion of human rights, democracy, and inclusive development in Jordan. The Syrian crisis affected thousands of people and created an influx of refugees in Jordan. In this time of hardship ARDD-Legal Aid stands in solidarity with the Syrian people and works diligently to let the voices of the refugees be heard.

On March 14th, 2013 ARDD-Legal Aid in partnership with Oxfam will bring together Syrian refugees and Jordanian citizens in the meaning of Unity and solidarity to stand together as one in this time of adversity and light a candle for the innocent lives lost and for the inner hope that Syria will be a country of peace and a safe haven for their citizens to return and live the life of dignity and pride.

While we unite here in Jordan in the moment of global solidarity  we ask you to please join this cause. You can take part by joining the virtual vigil happening on social media mechanisms and you can be a part of this.  Donate a tweet or facebook message to #SyriaCrisis ahead of Thursday and they will all be released at the same time on 14th March to strengthen our call for peace.

You can also visit syriavigil.org to find out if a vigil is taking place near you and for tips on how to organize your own vigil, no matter how small.

ARDD-Legal Aid and Oxfam takes pride in the human rights work that it presents and the partners that it works with. We realize that sometimes just listening to the screams and cries of the refugees is a way to come closer together but now we are using this opportunity to show our support and stand with our brothers and sisters in one united message of peace.
